A week in the Algarve can change your life

freedom health love presence Dec 06, 2018

In October 2018 eleven women met in a beautiful little retreat centre in the Western Algarve for seven days of….

… well, as much as I try, I cannot put it in a nut shell. The week was unique , very special and truly transformational. Each woman left with a sense of having uncovered something deep inside her, something that will never be pushed down again.

There was such wonderful synergy created through the raw food, Kundalini Yoga and the Six Prayers of Raw Love Awakening, which we worked with every day. Friendships for life were created, commitments made and lives changed.

The Natural Retreat where we so comfortably stayed for the 7 nights greeted us with love on our arrival and then continued to resonate the love we brought to it daily. The surrounding, gentle countryside of the Wester Algarve, despite the mixed weather, further added to the deep and transformational experience every single woman experienced at this retreat.

For me it was all I...

5 Reasons to take yourself on retreat

freedom health love presence Aug 30, 2018

Once in a while we all need to take ourselves away from our daily life. Holiday’s are great, but they very rarely support our health in the way we may want to. The food isn’t right, and you eat too much of it. You easily slip into drinking more alcohol and eating more ice cream than you know is good for you. You are on holiday after all and you want to make the most of it. Perhaps you will also lie a bit too long in the sun, causing you sun burn and pre-mature ageing of the skin. There is also so much to see and do when going to new places that the days are often filled with tiring activities, leaving you excited but exhausted at the end of the day. When you get home, you immediately slip back into your old habits and life patterns… until the next holiday.

It’s fun and they do say that a change is as good as a break, but once in a while you’ll need something else. A complete removal from what you normally do.

So here are 5 reasons why you should take...

Meditation, the easy way in

love presence Aug 09, 2018

Do you meditate regularly? Most people I meet are aware of the benefits gained through meditation, yet when asked how often they meditate, they often admit that they don’t do it as much as they would like. Many of my clients tell me that they find it hard to still the mind, that they just get caught up in the labyrinth of their thoughts. Perhaps the biggest hurdle for meditation is that we think of it as kind of a big deal. We think it’s got to be done in a certain way, in a specific environment, that we need time and quiet for it and that we have to sit for a long time.

My experience shows that actually a much better approach is to think of meditation as something we do all the time. Any activity or non-activity, such as waiting, can be a form of meditation. All we have to do is give whatever we are doing our full attention, be aware of our breath and let our thoughts go.

Letting our thoughts go is different from not thinking. Instead of thinking that we’ve...

Banquet of Blessings

love presence May 17, 2018

Sitting in the half shade at the top of the Chalice Well Gardens in Glastonbury with a piece of far too sweet raw chocolate cake and an almond latte, I contemplate the 3-day retreat we just completed.

When my husband Neil and I bought our house in 1999, I had a vision of sharing the space one day with others. I think at the time I thought that we could create a beautiful garden where then there was not much more that bramble, bracken, boundary oaks and a small bit of woodland filled with hazel and willow. Perhaps one day the garden would be pretty enough to do open garden days.

And although we’ve been running quite a few one day retreats here in the last few years, this recent Kundalini Yoga and Raw Food Retreat over 3 days was the first one we ran at full capacity. All bedrooms were occupied, and people camped in tents and camper van in the garden. To see our living room transformed into a yoga studio which can accommodate 15 people was inspiring. So much so, that we feel...

When I go into the woods

love presence May 08, 2017

I’ve just been walking in the woods. Trees and forests are my natural places where I connect most easily with nature and with my soul. I believe everybody has a place where they can connect best. For some it may be an open field, the mountains or a lake, for others it may be the ocean or perhaps a sanctuary in their home.

Whatever that place is, it’s where we can find instant peace in times of inner trouble. What do I mean by ‘inner trouble’? I guess what I’m talking about here is a sense of being lost, a sadness perhaps or a feeling of overwhelm or restlessness. Any inner experience that prevents us from feeling content, calm and happy.

I have suffered from inner trouble for many years and for nearly as many years I’ve considered this a state of being that I actively had to fight or ‘do something’ about. Usually an inner dialogue would ensue around questions like ‘what is this about?’, ‘why am I...

To be or not to be ill

love presence Feb 28, 2017

I caught a cold. Since going raw, I don’t get colds often, though having to stay in bed because I’m unwell is no stranger to me. During my years of limitations due to fibromyalgia, I often was bed-bound. I was terrified of catching a cold or virus because it would always take me weeks to recover from it. Friends weren't even allowed to come and visit if they had a cold.

Just shows how far I have come, because two weeks ago we had a friend staying with us and she was quite unwell with a cold and an extremely runny nose. I'm glad we could provide her with a little sanctuary to recover. I was pretty convinced I would not get it, and definitely wasn't concerned about getting ill.

Why do some people get ill and others don't?

It is about resilience. How strong is the immune system at the time, and how vulnerable is the person or the body? Illness has a place in our lives. It often forces us to change what we are doing – it forces us to...

Creating a portal through which Love can enter

love Feb 05, 2017

Big things are brewing at the Radiant on Raw headquarters. As I deeply acknowledge the love that is inside me and that surrounds me, I have realised that to share love, to ignite love in others is what I am called here to do. You're probably not surprised to hear, that for me love starts with food. In German the saying goes 'Liebe geht durch den Magen', loosely translated into 'The way to the heart is through the stomach'.

When I was a little girl I was told that this saying meant to reach a man's heart you had to give him tasty food. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why I spent so much time in the kitchen with my grandmother, where I learnt about flavours and spices. But I also spent a lot of time in the garden with my grandad learning the beautiful tastes of freshly picked vegetables and fruit and, without understanding it then, experiencing the high energetic vibration that comes from eating fresh, raw foods provided by nature.

It took many years and a lot of trial...

Cardamom – the Love Spice

food health love Jan 30, 2017

Apparently cardamom is an aphrodisiac and frankly, it doesn't surprise me, similar to cinnamon and related to ginger and turmeric, it has many health benefits but it also adds a certain zing to dishes, particularly when combined with something sweet and zesty. I feel cardamom really opens my heart and my mind... a bit like switching the light on.

Health benefits include lowering cholesterol, reducing bowel inflammation, treating urinary disorders and has even been known to counteract bowel cancer. But it's also believed to contain anti-depressant properties. If it can make us feel good, it inevitably will also make us happier.

In this blog post I'm sharing two recipes using cardamom, but feel free to just sprinkle a little on your next breakfast, into a banana smoothie or stir it into your curry.

People often ask me how I use cardamom. In the past when I used to cook food, I would just remove some seeds from a pod and cook it with the other...

A short lesson in accepting what is

freedom love presence Aug 28, 2016

Where we live our internet connection is dodgy. Often slow and frequently not working at all. I usually say that this is the price we pay for living on the edge of ancient woodland.

But it does get frustrating when there are things I want to communicate with you, blog posts and videos to upload and websites and course info to update.

There is always blue behind the clouds

However I always try to ask myself why certain things happen in my life. Some people have the philosophy that issues, problems and stumbling blocks are put in front of us to help us learn something specific. I'm not entirely sure whether I believe it's so clear cut, but I certainly think that it is worth looking at the situation, accepting it as reality and then moving forward from there instead of complaining and continuing to be frustrated.

And yes, there may be something to learn. For me it may be that being online 24/7 isn't the most important thing in my life....
